Proactive Sewer Monitoring Technology for Councils and Utilities
Detect blockages early, separate inflow and infiltration from base flow, and target rehabilitation where it counts
Common Unsolved Problems Demand Unique Solutions

Problems
Rain events, ageing pipes and limited field crews make it tough to keep overflows under control. Operators often learn about bloackages only when sewers spill, and planners cannot see where infiltration is driving wet weather load.

Solutions
SBT Smart Water links world leading robust, ATEX-rated depth, flow and rainfall sensors to an analytics engine that learns each site’s normal behaviour within weeks. The platform flags abnormal level rise, calculates infiltration volume after rain, and ranks hotspots so budgets go to the worst defects first. Data streams into our secure dashboard or straight into your SCADA.

How It Works

1 / Design and Install
We keep crews out of the hole. All instruments are Zone 0 and clamp to the chamber rim, so no confined-space entry is needed, and they transmit over NB-IoT / LTE-M and LoRAWAN for reliable rural coverage. External packs give up to seven-year field life, slashing repeat visits.
Certified crews fit the IP68 hardware, verify live packets before leaving and hand over an as-built with logger ID, depth datum and signal strength
2 / Our Sensors
One sensor type never covers every hydraulic regime, so we standardised on four complementary devices that share batteries, comms and APIs.
LIDoTT multi sensor
Handles dry flow and surcharge in one body—ultrasonic switches to pressure as levels rise.
-
Ultrasonic ±2 mm (0–1.5 m)
-
Pressure ±0.2 % FS (0–10 m), auto-changeover
-
7-year Battery.
LIDoTT Alarm
Stand-alone radar alarm for laterals and cleanouts where only threshold alerts are required
-
Pulsed coherent radar ±5 mm to 8 m
-
Three alarm states
-
7-year battery
NC-Flow dual radar
Non-contact measurement where access is risky—bridges, storm drains, culverts.
-
Velocity 0.3–4.6 m s⁻¹
-
onboard flow calc
-
IP68 and ATEX Zone 0.
3 / Our Data Analytics Platform
We selected StormHarvester because live trials proved it cuts control-room noise by 96 % and delivers blockage alerts with 90 % relevance.
The platform fuses hyper-local rainfall forecasts with sensor data, learns each site’s normal envelope within weeks and re-sets thresholds automatically—no manual tuning. Data streams to SCADA via REST or OPC-UA and is stored on Australian ISO 27001 servers.
4 / Actionable Insight
In deployment StormHarvester identified forming blockages more than 14 days before failure, letting crews fix issues before they spill and giving planners a ranked hotspot list for AMP submissions.
Operators receive SMS / email / API alerts only when the dynamic window is breached; weekly exports include blockage risk index, I-and-I volume by catchment and a three-click link to raw files for audit.
